'Poor advert for English football' Fans left unimpressed by Champions League final

Tottenham and Liverpool contested the first all-English Champions League final in 11 years when they locked horns in Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

After dramatic comebacks from both sides in the semi-finals, the affair between the two Premier League teams was hyped significantly in the build up.

However, the match failed to live up to expectations as a rather drab affair in the Spanish capital was more like a pre-season friendly than the biggest club match in the world.

Mohamed Salah tucked home from the penalty spot in the opening minutes after Moussa Sissoko's handball but nothing really happened until the latter stages of the match, where Divock Origi struck off the bench to put the game beyond any doubt.

That saw Liverpool become champions of Europe for the sixth time and, while their supporters won't care too much, it was not an entertaining match for the neutrals and many took to social media to complain.
