Pool Stock Outlook: Is Wall Street Bullish or Bearish?

Covington, Louisiana-based Pool Corporation (POOL) is the world's leading independent distributor of swimming pool supplies, equipment, and related leisure products. With a market cap of $12 billion, Pool operates in nearly 450 locations through its distribution networks and serves over 125,000 customers worldwide.

The company has significantly underperformed the broader market over the past year and in 2025. Pool stock has plummeted 10.7% over the past 52 weeks and 6.6% on a YTD basis, compared to the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX15.1% gains over the past year and 9.9% surge in 2025.

 

Narrowing the focus, Pool stock has also underperformed the sector-focused Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLI18.6% gains over the past 52 weeks and 16.3% surge on a YTD basis.

Pool’s stock prices gained 3% in the trading session following the release of its mixed Q2 results on Jul. 24. The company observed continued growth in maintenance products and a slight improvement in discretionary spending. However, its net sales for the quarter increased by a marginal 83 bps year-over-year to $1.8 billion, missing the consensus estimates by 21 bps. On the positive note, its net income for the quarter inched up 95 bps year-over-year to $194.3 million, and EPS of $5.17 surpassed the consensus estimates by approximately 1%.

For the full fiscal 2025, ending in December, analysts expect Pool to deliver an EPS of $10.88, down 1.7% year-over-year. The company has a mixed earnings surprise history overall. While it surpassed the Street’s bottom-line projections thrice over the past four quarters, it missed the estimates on one other occasion.

The company has a consensus “Moderate Buy” rating overall. Of the 14 analysts covering the Pool stock, opinions include five “Strong Buys,” eight “Holds,” and one “Moderate Sell.”

This configuration has remained stable in recent months.

On Jul. 29, Oppenheimer analyst Scott Schneeberger reiterated an “Outperform” rating on Pool stock and raised the price target from $322 to $346.

As of writing, Pool’s mean price target of $331.45 represents a modest 4.1% premium to current price levels. Meanwhile, the street-high target of $375 suggests a 17.8% upside potential.
