Ponty's Big Bang 2020 fireworks event has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pontypridd and Rhondda Round Table, who organise the annual event say they had "reluctantly" taken the decision to call it off.
A statement said: "We have been in discussions with those involved with staging the event over the last few weeks and have considered several options that may have allowed us to go ahead with its delivery in some form."
Earlier this month, Cardiff's massive fireworks event, Sparks In The Park, was also cancelled.
The statement from organisers in Pontypridd said: "Due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding restrictions around public gatherings because of the pandemic and the real possibility of restrictions either not being lifted further or with restrictions or lockdowns being re-imposed has made this task impossible.
"The health and ongoing safety of our spectators, supporters and suppliers, as always, must take precedence.
"We have taken this decision now to avoid incurring costs that would otherwise be irrecoverable if we ultimately cannot stage the display and to avoid disappointment for spectators and event partners at a later date given these uncertain and unpredictable times."
They thanked people for their continuing support and said they hoped to return on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
And added: "We hope you and your families continue to keep safe and well during these strange, difficult, uncertain and unpredictable times."
They are also looking at options for people who want to donate money to the charities they support, even though the event is not going ahead.
