Pontus Jansson shares how Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa helped Brentford seal promotion

Former Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has revealed how Marcelo Bielsa helped Brentford achieve promotion to the top-flight.

The Bees won 2-0 against Swansea City in Saturday's play-off final, advancing through the playoffs following nine different disappointments in their career.

Brentford suffered defeat at the final hurdle last season but came back with a vengeance this year and will now become the 50th different club to compete in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match, Jansson shared how Bielsa actually played a significant role in helping the west London side in their push with the lessons he taught the Brentford skipper.

"I saw something in Brentford. I'm so thankful for Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds because he gave me so much, he gave me so much knowledge," he told Sky Sports.

"I actually brought that here to Brentford and they were so willing to listen to me with my ideas which I took from Bielsa.

"I thank him a lot, for me he is one of the best coaches in the world. People think that our relationship is not the best but it is, it's very good, I'm so thankful to him. Thank you to Bielsa and to Leeds."

Jansson also explained how this season is different to 12 months ago, with the Sweden international receiving messages of support from Leeds fans.

"I think the difference this year compared to last year, last year there was a lot of Leeds fans against me," he added.

"This year, so many Leeds fans have been with me and with Brentford, probably because they are already there and they want me to come and join them. I love Leeds, Brentford fans know that, and of course I love Brentford just as much.

"I'm so proud, I'm so happy and this means so much to me. I could go home to Sweden now and retire because this is what I've dreamt of for such a long time since I moved to England."
