Pontsticill in Merthyr Tydfil cut off for second time in 24 hours after landslip

A part of Merthyr Tydfil has been cut off for the second time in 24 hours due landslips thanks to Storm Jorge.

The road into Pontsticill at Pontsarn, near the Aberglais pub, was covered with debris, in the early hours of Saturday morning (February 29).

Merthyr Tydfil council had closed the road late on Friday to carry out emergency repairs on the road after another minor landslip between the Aberglais Inn and the Spanish House, but it reopened later during the evening.

These pictures show the second slip and the local council are in the process of clearing it.

South Wales Police confirmed the road was closed.

The Aberglais pub is open to customers as the issue with the road is between the pub and the village of Ponsticill.
