Pond - Elvis' Flaming Star: video premiere

Pond life: Perth psyche rockers return Photograph: PR

Next January, Perth’s psych-rock oddballs Pond return with their sixth album, Man It Feels Like Space Again. Ahead of its release comes a lo-fi video to accompany the glam-rock leading track, Elvis’ Flaming Star.

For their sixth studio album, the group – a collection of musicians made out of Mink Mussel Creek, Allbrook/Avery and Tame Impala – worked with other collaborators to create their latest full-length recording, released via Caroline Records on 26 January. “It had already been worked out,” the band’s Nick Allbrook noted, “but in the spirit of impulsiveness and lunacy, it got shattered and scattered and pissed on and blow dried in a small studio in Collingwood, Melbourne.”

A silly string-infested world of paint bombs and topless dancing in a garden, the video should reassure fans that Pond’s sound has not straightened out or sobered up since 2013’s Hobo Rocket. Watch the video below and let us know what you think.
