Pollokshaws Road crash: Cyclist taken to hospital after collision with car

A cyclist has been taken hospital after a crash on Pollokshaws Road in the south side of Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near to Calder Street and Nithsdale Drive, at around 12.45pm, after reports of a collision between a Skoda car and a cyclist.

Eyewitnesses say a person was seen lying on the ground following the incident and police have since confirmed the cyclist involved has been transferred to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital - it's understood this is just as a precaution.

Meanwhile, police say the driver of the Skoda car has been issued with a fixed penalty notice in relation to alleged road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "At around 12.45pm police were called to a road crash involving a cyclist and a Skoda car on Pollokshaws Road near Calder Street/Nithsdale Drive.

"The driver of the Skoda car has been issued with a fixed penalty notice in relation to alleged road traffic offences.

"The cyclist has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, understood to be as a precaution."
