Pollok Park incident: police name schoolboy who tragically died after falling into water

Police have named the 16-year-old boy who tragically died after falling into the water at Pollok Park.

A huge emergency service presence, including police, fire crews and the ambulance service, raced to the south side of Glasgow last night after reports a person had fallen into White Cart Water.

Officers last night confirmed the body of a teenager was recovered from the water and police have today named him as Saif Mohammed.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A Police Scotland statement released this afternoon confirmed: "A 16-year-old male youth has died following an incident in Pollok Park on Tuesday, 30 June, 2020.

"Around 5.10pm police received a report a person had fallen into water at Pollok Country Park.  

"Emergency services attended and a 16-year-male was recovered from the water.  He can be named as Saif Mohammed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
