Polling Place: Who’s up for another discussion about the QBs the Bears didn’t take in 2017?

Fine, so we won’t even name the gentlemen in this photo. | Tom Pennington/Getty Images

Wait a minute. Stop the clock. Hold the presses.

Are you trying to tell us you’ve had enough of our baying at the moon over the Bears’ 2017 draft selection of quarterback Mitch Trubisky when they could’ve taken — hang on, looking up the names to be sure — Deshaun Watson or that Patrick Mahomes fella?

In this week’s “Polling Place” — your weekly home for Sun-Times sports polls on Twitter — we led with a question about that pleasant little topic. Consider it a friendly reminder.

“I’m completely done,” @DavidJHuhn commented. “I get that you have a false obligation to bring it up every chance you get, but it is OK to allow fans and the Bears to move on from it.”

At least we understand each other. By the way, is everybody aware that the Bears are hosting Watson and the Texans on Sunday and that the Bears could’ve had Watson running their offense all this time? Just checking.

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: On a scale of 1 to 10, how done are you with the topic of the Bears drafting Mitch Trubisky rather than Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes?

Time again for our weekly @suntimes "Polling Place" questions. Jump in and vote! Selected comments will appear in Saturday's paper.

Q1: On a scale of 1 to 10, how done are you with the topic of the Bears drafting Mitch Trubisky rather than Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes?

— Chicago Sun-Times (@Suntimes) December 10, 2020

Upshot: It’s almost like Bears fans don’t want to sit and stew in a pot of misery for years on end just because general manager Ryan Pace whiffed spectacularly on the most important pick of his career, leaving the team miles from nowhere. Go figure.

Poll No. 2: What’s your grade for the White Sox for reacquiring Adam Eaton to play right field?

What’s your grade for the White Sox for reacquiring Adam Eaton to play right field?

Upshot: Sox fans have stars in their eyes these days, and Eaton isn’t quite the red-carpet type they envisioned for 2021. He was a far-from-beloved clubhouse figure during his last go-round with the team, a factor that surely is reflected in the voting. But, hey, Lance Lynn, baby.

Poll No. 3: So, Northwestern will play Ohio State next weekend in the Big Ten title game. Can the Wildcats beat the Buckeyes?

So, Northwestern will play Ohio State next weekend in the Big Ten title game. Can the Wildcats beat the Buckeyes?

— Chicago Sun-Times (@Suntimes) December 10, 2020

Upshot: There’s @twpbaby’s point of view on whether or not Northwestern can beat Ohio State: “No. But neither can anybody else.” Then there’s @DustinEburg, who recalls Purdue’s 49-20 smoke show against the No. 2 Buckeyes in 2018. “Anyone who voted ‘not in this lifetime’ is silly,” he wrote. Maybe so. We’ll find out.
