Pollen bomb warning to hay fever sufferers for this week

Hay fever experts say rain after weeks of dry sunshine could create a 'pollen bomb' from Monday, meaning misery for allergy sufferers.

Grass has flourished in recent days thanks to rain coming on the back of the sunniest and driest May on record - and grass pollen is the key trigger for many hay fever sufferers.

Max Wiseberg, creator of HayMax allergen balm, told The Mirror: “Wetter weather forecast for the next few days, after the long dry spell, will cause grass to flourish. It will produce loads more pollen, triggering a huge pollen explosion from Monday.”

Savers is selling hay fever relief wipes for less than £1

More than 20million people have hay fever and 41 per cent say they suffer so badly it ruins their summer.

The Met Office pollen count currently registers 'high' across the whole of the south and west of England as well as Wales for Monday and Tuesday - rising to very high in the east, south east and London by the end of the week.
