Hay fever sufferers have been warned to expect high pollen levels over Easter Weekend with friends and family set to meet outdoors under the new rule of six.
Data from the new Kleenex Pollen Forecast launched today shows that pollen levels across the country this weekend will be at some of their highest so far this year, as we move towards peak pollen season. Tree pollen readings are forecasted to be particularly high, potentially leading to a wave of runny noses, sore eyes and sneezing fits across the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
The severity of pollen levels is measured by Pollen Grains Per Cubic Metre (PPM). A reading of 200-703 for tree pollen is considered high, and anything above 704 very high. Selected regions with currently high tree pollen forecasts for the UK on Good Friday include:
- Belfast: 208 PPM
- Birmingham: 316 PPM
- Bristol: 334 PPM
- Glasgow: 218 PPM
- Leeds: 260 PPM
- Leicester: 349 PPM
- Liverpool: 323 PPM
- London: 350 PPM
- Manchester: 218 PPM
- Nottingham: 361 PPM
