The Chicago Bears return to Soldier Field with a 2-1 record and a pivotal divisional showdown against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Two of the league’s best defenses will clash in a game that will send one of them into last place in the NFC North. Chicago will rely heavily on its dominant defense, which is coming off a five-takeaway performance against Washington.
In a game that’s sure to be a defensive battle from start to finish, it’s up to the offenses to provide the slight edge.
The Bears offense is coming off its most encouraging game of the season in a 31-15 win over the Redskins last Monday. QB Mitch Trubisky tossed three second-quarter touchdowns after failing to throw one in the previous two weeks,.
While the offense still has a long way to go, there was a sense of rhythm on offense that wasn’t present in the first two weeks. And while it’s unlikely that Chicago’s offense will replicate that 31-point performance against a Vikings defense allowing 15.7 points per game, all they need to do is be the better offense, especially when a defense like this to fall back on.
