POLL: Who was the Packers’ best draft pick of the first two days?

The Green Bay Packers have made four picks through the first two days of the 2019 NFL draft: Michigan edge rusher Rashan Gary at No. 12, Maryland safety Darnell Savage at No. 21, Mississippi State offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins at No. 44 and Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger at No. 75.

GM Brian Gutekunst has continuously preached picking the best player available, but the Packers have also addressed all four of their biggest needs to start the draft.

Gary will give defensive coordinator Mike Pettine an athletic and versatile rusher with enormous talent and unlocked potential. While arguably the top athlete in the entire draft, Gary lacked top-end production at Michigan and might be one of the biggest boom-or-bust prospects in the class.

The Packers used both fourth-round picks to move up and get Savage, a heat-seeking missile with the athleticism and playmaking ability to line up all over the defensive secondary. He’ll provide a starter next to Adrian Amos at the backend of the defense.

Jenkins has the versatility and athleticism to help the Packers across the offensive line, but he’ll likely be provided a chance to win a starting job on the interior as a rookie, especially after the offensive line’s struggles at left and right guard in 2018.

Sternberger is the developmental tight end the Packers needed on the roster. He is one of the top receiving threats at tight end in the class, with the size and mindset to someday be an effective inline blocker.

All four of the Packers’ picks could help in 2019 and develop into long-term starters.
