There has been a ridiculous amount of hype surrounding the narrative that veteran free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston would be an ideal signing by the Pittsburgh Steelers. While we don’t completely disagree with this notion, the fact that Cam Newton is now on the market it adds another layer to market. But if you have to pick one veteran as insurance for Ben Roethlisberger who would it be?
In terms of youth, Winston would represent a guy who could be the starter of the future for the Steelers. He’s only 26 years old and could be looking for a fresh start. Newton is 30 but takes such good care of himself and trains so hard it really shouldn’t be an issue. Not to mention he’s still eight years younger than Big Ben.
