Poll: Should the Seattle Seahawks re-sign cornerback Justin Coleman?

14 Seattle Seahawks are heading to unrestricted free agency this offseason, which could give Seattle a very different looking team in 2019.

While many of those players may be brought back, Seattle does have to save some money if they want to keep Frank Clark, Jarran Reed and Russell Wilson, all who will command hefty contract extensions in the next year or two.

Five of Seattle’s free agents are defensive backs, and one that Seattle will have to decide how to handle will be nickel corner Justin Coleman.

Coleman came over to the Seahawks from the Patriots for a seventh round pick just before the start of the 2017 season. It proved to be an excellent trade, as Coleman played in all 32 games over the last two seasons, starting ten and serving as the team’s primary nickelback.

He had two pick sixes in 2017, and finished 2018 with a career-high 55 tackles and 10 passes defended, while also forcing one fumble and recovering two.

Coleman received an above average 67.3 grade from Pro Football Focus, and was an integral part of Seattle’s young defense last season.

As such, Coleman’s unique skillset will be a hot commodity on the open market. Seattle is likely losing safety Earl Thomas this offseason, and no doubt wants to keep Coleman in their young nucleus of defensive backs heading into 2019.

Still, with contract extensions looming for Clark, Wilson and Reed, Coleman could become a casualty of salary cap efficiency.

What do you think is the right move regarding Coleman?
