Poll: Should the Seattle Seahawks cut linebacker Barkevious Mingo?

A recent article by NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal listed a handful of NFC players who could be cut this offseason.

For the Seahawks the list featured two players: Kam Chancellor – an obvious choice considering his situation – and linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

Mingo is set to earn a base salary of $3M next season, which comes with a fairly substantial $4.4M cap hit.

Mingo is coming off one of the most successful years in his career however, starting 14 games at outside linebacker and recording a career-high 48 tackles along with two forced fumbles and one sack.

With veteran K.J. Wright set to hit free agency and Mychal Kendricks potentially missing the season with legal issues, it hardly seems like a good time for the Seahawks to be cutting linebackers.

However, the team does have Austin Calitro and Shaquem Griffin waiting in the wings along with surprise rookie Jacob Martin, who excelled as a hybrid OLB/edge rusher – the role that Mingo filled last season.

Seattle may bank on improvement from those three guys, which would allow them to cut Mingo and free up some extra cap space they could use to re-sign Frank Clark and possibly add some additional help on the defensive line.

What do you think the Seahawks should do with Mingo?
