POLL: Should the Bears bench QB Mitch Trubisky?

With each game it becomes more and more apparent that Mitch Trubisky isn’t the long-term answer at quarterback for the Chicago Bears.

Look no further than Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, where Trubisky was abysmal in an utterly atrocious offense in the Bears’ 36-25 loss.

Sure, he was coming off a left shoulder injury. Sure, he wasn’t helped by a non-existent run game. Sure, he wasn’t helped by anyone outside of Allen Robinson.

But the excuses need to stop for the No. 2 overall selection that was taken ahead of quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, who have proven that they’re not only the future of their respective teams but the future of the NFL.

Following the game, Bears coach Matt Nagy was asked if he ever considered replacing Trubisky with backup Chase Daniel. Nagy said the thought “never crossed my mind.”

But should it have?

While the offense’s struggles don’t fall solely on Trubisky, the quarterback’s underwhelming performance — including repeatedly missing open receivers — was inexcusable.

“There’s just so many parts of it,” Nagy said, via the Sun-Times. “And Mitch is a competitor, and I think for all of us, it just was one of those deals where you would love, you would really love it to be able to get the run game going early, early, early so you can do more things, and we didn’t do that.”

While Trubisky’s struggles were just the tip of the iceberg with the Bears’ offense, Chicago needs better play out of its quarterback if there’s any hope at salvaging this offense.

Does Nagy remain committed to Trubisky?

“Yeah,” he said. “Absolutely, yeah.”

It’s not exactly “Rex is our quarterback,” but it certainly has that feeling.

What do you think? Are you still committed to Trubisky this season?
