Poll Reveals Trump Supporters See Him As Defender Of Faith

Donald Trump to testify in New York civil fraud trial

A recent poll conducted by Pew Research shed light on the religious perceptions of voters supporting former President Trump. The poll revealed that only 8% of these voters believe Trump is 'very religious,' while 51% consider him 'somewhat religious,' and 38% view him as 'not too religious' or 'not religious at all.'

Despite the mixed views on his religiosity, a majority of Trump supporters, 51%, feel that he strongly advocates for religious beliefs similar to their own. Only 11% of supporters felt that he did not stand up much or at all for their religious beliefs, with 21% believing he did so to some extent.

In a recent speech in Tennessee, Trump expressed his astonishment at Christians or religious individuals voting for Democrats, stating that it was 'crazy.' He emphasized his belief that Democrats were not aligned with Christian values and criticized President Biden, calling him 'incompetent' and unfit to lead the country.

During the speech, Trump also addressed the legal challenges he has faced and pledged to defend Christians from what he described as attacks by the 'radical left' who are targeting religious individuals.

The Pew poll and Trump's remarks highlight the complex relationship between the former president, his supporters, and the perception of his religious beliefs. While opinions on his personal religiosity vary, many of his supporters feel that he champions their religious values and are vocal in their support for him.
