Poll reveals top words Americans use to describe Trump

  • A new Economist/YouGov poll reveals that a majority of Americans describe President Donald Trump as "dangerous," "corrupt," and "out-of-touch."
  • Specifically, 52 percent of Americans called Trump "dangerous," 49 percent "corrupt," and 45 percent used both "racist" and "out-of-touch" to describe him.
  • Conversely, 45 percent of respondents used "honest," 40 percent "inspiring," and 38 percent "intelligent" to describe Trump, with opinions largely split along party lines.
  • Trump's net approval rating stands at negative 24 percent, lower than at the same point in his first term and Joe Biden's term, with significant disapproval for his handling of immigration and race relations.
  • Poor public opinion of Trump could hinder Republican campaigns in upcoming midterm elections, despite a slimmer Democratic lead on a generic House ballot compared to previous cycles.
