The unofficial results of the March 24 election are expected to be known within three hours of the vote, which will end at 5pm, Election Commission (EC) chairman Ittiporn Boonpracong said Thursday.

He was speaking at the launch of the EC's so-called "Rapid Report" centre for reporting on the unofficial results of the election.

A mobile app with the same name is now available to feed real-time updates. With this app, which will also be used by the EC as a tool to manage the March 24 election, the unofficial results, based on 95% ballot count, should be known by 8pm, said EC secretary-general Jarungvith Phumma.

For voting units in areas with poor internet connectivity, district sub-committees will handle the reporting of the results, he said.

Pol Col Jarungvith said the server used to report on the poll results would not crash, even if it is overloaded with many users, due to its size.

About 30 television channels will link their broadcasting systems to the EC's reporting system.
