An opinion survey has found people are more satisfied with the government in all areas but the popularity of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has waned.
Bangkok Poll released the results of its survey on Saturday after the government completed 3½ years in office. The poll, which is done every six months, was conducted on 1,165 people nationwide during Feb 26-27.
The respondents rated the government's overall performance at 5.64 out of the full score of 10, up from 0.37 from the previous poll.
The improved scores were seen in all areas, led by social issues and quality of life (up 0.47) and the economy (up 0.41).
However, Gen Prayut received an average score of 6.82, down 0.18 from the previous poll. The declines were seen in all aspects, except creativity or the ability to create new projects, which climbed 0.17.
Some 45.2% of the respondents found positive developments over the past 42 months, while 30.9% thought everything was the same and 23.9% felt the situation worsened.
Asked about the most detrimental issues undermining the government, 23% of the respondents chose the economy, which most found had not improved to its potential, followed by a lack of transparency of some cabinet ministers and people close to the prime minister (23%) and a lack of resoluteness in tackling corruption (16.3%).
