A new poll shows the race for the open Senate seat in Nevada is tied between Republican Rep. Joe Heck and Democratic former state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.
A YouGov/CBS News 2016 Battleground Tracker poll showed Cortez Masto and Heck each had 39 percent of those polled and 18 percent remained undecided. Heck had a 3-point lead in August, 38 percent to 35 percent.
A RealClearPolitics average of polls from Oct. 2 through Oct. 14 shows Cortez Masto with a 0.3 percentage point advantage.
After recently recanting his endorsement of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Heck came under fire from his own party, poll analysis shows.
The YouGov poll found 53 percent of Nevada Republicans believe party leaders oppose Trump because they are afraid of losing votes. Of those polled, 73 percent want GOP leaders to back their presidential nominee.
The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the race as Tossup.
In the presidential race, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton led Nevada, 46 percent to 40 percent, over Trump. Clinton had a 2-point lead in August, 43 percent to 41 percent.
The poll found 76 percent of Hispanic likely voters supported Clinton. Among African-American voters, 91 percent supported Clinton, compared to Trump's 4 percent. Trump does, however, have a 12-point lead among white voters, 48 percent to 36 percent.
The survey interviewed 996 likely voters in Nevada from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14 and had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.
