HARTFORD, Conn. — With less than two weeks until Election Day, former Vice President Joe Biden has a double-digit lead over Republican President Donald Trump among likely voters nationwide, a new Quinnipiac poll has found.
Thursday's poll is the third since September that shows Biden with a 10-point advantage, according to Quinnipiac. He leads Trump 51-41 among likely voters.
"Three straight polls in the double-digit zone. For Biden-Harris, flush with cash and propelled by consistent support, it remains steady as she goes through the turbulent waters of a bitter, personal, and unsettling campaign," Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said, in a news release.
Trump's job approval rating was 41%, a slight decline from a 43% approval rating he had in a Sept. 23 Quinnipiac poll. Just under half of respondents (49%) said they had a favorable opinion of Biden.
On specific issues, likely voters placed Biden ahead of Trump on handling health care, the coronavirus pandemic and Supreme Court nominations. Trump had a 48-47 edge on handling the economy.
They were also asked about whether Trump and Biden had a sense of decency. About two-thirds (64%) said Biden did while only 37% said the same for Trump.
"Americans vote from their wallets ... but character also counts. The president may still engender some confidence when it comes to handling the economy, but on decency, voters see a yawning void between Trump and Biden," Malloy said.
The poll of 1,426 likely voters was conducted from Oct. 16-19 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
