The Chicago Bears are 3-2 after the first five weeks of the 2019 season. And while they have a winning record, it isn’t exactly an encouraging 3-2 considering the expectations for this season.
While the Bears defense has been solid for all but last Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, it’s been the offense that has been a serious cause for concern.
Considering the year of experience in the offense, this was a unit that was expected to breakout in 2019. Instead, Chicago’s offense appears to have regressed in the first five weeks.
The Bears defense stumbled against the Raiders, but that was the exception, not the rule, for a unit that’s still one of the best in the league. Even the best defenses have their off games.
Chicago’s remaining schedule is far from a breeze, including games against playoff teams from a season ago in the New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, as well as four remaining division contests.
