Polking set to make wholesale changes against Suriname

Thailand's Philip Roller celebrates scoring against Nepal at Chonburi Stadium.

Thailand coach Mano Polking says he will make wholesale changes to the team which will face Suriname in a warm-up game on Sunday.

It will be the War Elephants' second of two friendly matches this week.

Polking's men defeated Nepal 2-0 thanks to two late goals from Philip Roller in the 78th minute and Chaowat Weerachart two minutes from time at Chonburi Stadium on Thursday night.

Sunday's game will take place at BG Stadium in Pathum Thani at 7pm.

After Thursday's win, Polking praised his men, including newcomers and fringe players, for their efforts.

"We are happy that we scored two goals and conceded none," the Brazilian said.

"We could control the game although fans might want to see us score more goals.

"We scored quite late but we also had several chances to score."

He said he had an agreement with the Thai league that he would not overuse the players.

"For the match against Suriname, we will use another starting line-up. It will be like another squad," said the coach who steered Thailand to the AFF Suzuki Cup victory in January.

Meanwhile, the Thai U23 team will meet China in the Dubai Cup on Saturday.

The match in Dubai kicks off at 7pm (Thai time) and will be shown live on AIS Play and Thairath TV.

The Thais lost 1-0 to Qatar in their opening game of the friendly tournament on Wednesday.

Thailand midfielder William Weiderjoe said: "Every player in our team is good and we help each other. I am very happy to have a chance to work with them.

"China are a top-class team. We have watched them play already and we must be well-prepared to face them."
