Politics Weekly podcast: George Osborne lays out further cuts in spending review

George Osborne laid out his spending plans for the crucial period of 2015/16 - determining the priorities of the two coalition parties as they head towards the next general election.

There were further cuts to local government, welfare spending, the arts and much more in a package that cut a further £11.5bn from departmental budgets.

Joining Tom Clark to discuss this: the Guardian's Polly Toynbee and Richard Adams, and the Observer's Heather Stewart.

The panel looks at how the comprehensive Spending Review will lead to the loss of automatic pay rises for civil servants and limit winter fuel payments to pensioners living abroad.

Plus: since Labour have committed to keep their overall spending on a par with Osborne's announcement, does Ed Miliband have enough room to make a progressive alternative case for government?
