Politics Weekly podcast: Childcare, ethnic minority votes and backbench rumblings

Childcare in Britain is among the most expensive in Europe, a fact that many in the Treasury believe is contributing to the sluggish nature of economic growth. The answer supplied this week by children's minister Lizz Truss is to relax regulations and raise the permitted ratio of children to childminders. It was a suggestion that came in for hostile treatment from the left and the right.

In the studio this week: Tory candidate and former No 10 advisor Shaun Bailey, The Observer's economics editor Heather Stewart, and Guardian columnist Martin Kettle.

Also this week: the panel examines the proposals from Tory backbencher Alok Sharma to get FTSE-listed companies to release data about the ethnic composition of their workforces.

Plus: as the little-known Tory MP Adam Afriye is linked with an audacious leadership bid, are backbench rumblings starting to get louder despite David Cameron's popular speech on Europe last week?
