Politics Weekly: Cameron in the US and the London mayoral election

David Cameron was treated to a flight on Air Force One as well as a presidential visit to a college basketball match on his first official trip to the United States. In a joint press conference with Barack Obama the two leaders re-affirmed their commitment to stay the course in Afghanistan as well as working together in other strategic interests. But the visit has been criticised back in Britain as Cameron was accompanied by George Osborne in the week before the budget.

Also on the menu this week: the London mayoral election. With Boris Johnson now neck and neck with Ken Livingstone there is all to play for before polling day in May. Joining Hugh Muir in the studio is one woman hoping for a major upset on 3 May - Siobhan Benita is standing for mayor as an independent candidate and she explains why. Also in the studio: Conservative blogger, broadcaster and publisher Iain Dale. And completing the panel the Guardian's own London politics blogger Dave Hill.

Finally this week we discuss the appeal of political memoirs. What makes a good one, and who is buying them?
