MPs voted to block Parliament being suspended to push through a no-deal Brexit on Thursday.
The House of Commons voted for legislation that would thwart efforts by the next PM to try to suspend Parliament to force through EU withdrawal without an agreement on October 31.
315 MPs voted for the amendment, with 274 voting against. Around 30 Ministers are thought to have abstained.
The Office for Budget Responsibility also announced that no-deal would force Britain into a recession, shrinking the economy by three per cent next year.
