Scotland's political leaders have endorsed a campaign to bring the UK's first green investment bank to Edinburgh.

Scottish Liberal Democrats leader Tavish Scott said:

"We should be poistive about the green investment bank and we should be very positive about bringing it to Edinburgh."

The SNP's Nicola Sturgeon said:

"The case for establishing the green investment bank in Edinburgh is overwhelming. Edinburgh is the only city outside London in the UK where it could be located and we all need to support the Chamber's campaign."

Scottish Labour's finance spokesman Andy Kerr said:

"Scotland's case is a very strong one and Edinburgh is integral to that. We should win this because we have the best pitch and the best offer."

Scottish Conservative deputy leader Murdo Fraser said:

"We want this campaign to be successful because of the case we are presenting for the benefit of Edinburgh and Scotland."

Co-convenor of the Scottish Green Party Patrick Harvie said:

"Of course we want the green investment bank to come to Scotland and for Edinburgh's campaign to be successful."

The political endorsement is welcome news for campaign leader Ron Hewitt, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce chief executive. He said:

"Edinburgh's case is compelling and superior to that of London.

"However, the campaign is far from won and to have all of the political parties and all of our financial institutions backing us is very encouraging."
