PUNE: A policy-level interaction meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, secretary (DARE) and DG (ICAR) at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar, Odisha recently.
The director general emphasized on the Seed Production Plan which can be prepared after estimating the seed requirements of the state.
Dr Mohapatra urged for a greater variety and seed replacement percentage for pulse crops in the state for higher productivity. He also directed the ICAR institutes to evaluate recently released varieties under Odisha-specific conditions with the help of the state government organizations and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
Dr Mohapatra advised the Odisha state government to provide indent for seed production materials to ICAR Institutes. He also urged all ICAR institutes to develop technologies according to farmers’ needs in a bottom-up approach.
