Policing, snogging and mobile blogging

I'm blogging on the move today in the company of my youngest two kids. Being a fun-loving dad I took them first to a meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority at City Hall where they listened attentively to Sir Paul Stephenson praising four members of the Territorial Support Group who have recently received bravery awards (sponsored by The Sun) and John Yates explaining in close detail to Jenny Jones why he had felt able to so swiftly conclude that no further persons merited investigation over the News of the World phone-tapping affair.

I mean no disrespect to any of those concerned in making the general observation that policing, politics and public relations are inextricably entangled at all times.

As always, the meeting discussed many things worth reporting and exploring here on another occasion when the circumstances are more conducive. For now, though, it's time to make a further raid on a Krispy Kreme doughnuts outlet at London Bridge station, tear myself and my small daughter away from pleasurable speculation about the young couple snogging blissfully on the concourse, and head off into our great city of delights.
