Policeman attacked as violence erupts after 'domestic' call out

A policeman was attacked as violence erupted when officers were called to a "domestic incident" at a Liverpool house.

The officer was assaulted when police were called out to an address in Anfield on Wednesday.

Today Merseyside Police confirmed a male officer was attacked on duty when police were called to the property in Pinehurst Avenue.

Police turned up at the house in response to "to reports of a domestic incident" just after 1.20pm, a spokeswoman told the ECHO.

One resident said on social media "there were police everywhere" while another said they saw someone being led out of a property by police.

A teenager was arrested and charged over the attack and also accused of causing criminal damage.

The Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "At around 1.20pm, officers were called to an address on Pinehurst Avenue to reports of a domestic incident.

"A 17-year-old was arrested and later charged with criminal damage and assault of an emergency worker."

The suspect was released on unconditional bail to appear at Merseyside Youth Court on Tuesday, March, 23.
