Policeman and two pedestrians seriously injured as car crashes into van

A police officer who was on duty has been seriously injured, along with two other pedestrians, after a car collided with a police van.

Three people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries and a 24-year-old woman has been arrested, reports YorkshireLive.

The incident happened in Wakefield, Yorkshire, just before 1,.30am on Sunday morning.

Police say a Renault Megane being driven along the road was in collision with a stationary police van.

Three pedestrians were injured, including a serving male police officer who was on duty at the time.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

All three pedestrians have been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen of breath.
