Policeman admits perverting the course of justice after car crash

A police constable has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice following a car crash.

PC Miladur Khan, 30, claimed he was behind the wheel but CCTV confirmed he was not the driver.

He then admitted he had been protecting his uninsured brother, Mured Khan.

The brothers were involved in a minor collision on Burdett Road in east London on 29 June last year.

At the scene, Khan was asked to several times to confirm whether he had been driving the car and he said he was.

Khan has been disqualified from driving for six months and fined £200.

He was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

Scotland Yard said he remains on restricted duties and a decision will be made as to whether he is suspended from duty.

An internal misconduct review will take place once criminal proceedings are complete, the Met Police said.
