Police witness appeal as man attacked and then further assaulted while on ground in Co Down

Police have issued a witness appeal after a man was attacked and then further assaulted while he lay on the ground in Co Down.

The 55-year-old male was attacked by a teenager in the Donard Street/Bryansford Avenue area of Newcastle at around 7pm last night.

Some time later a crowd gathered around the injured man to help him.

A PSNI spokesperson explained: "The injured male had been further assaulted, while lying on the ground, by a male we believe came from the Donard bar.

"If you were in the area and saw anything or were passing and have dash cam footage it'd be great to hear from you.

"Call us and quote ref 1051 31/03/19. Or tell Crimestoppers completely anonymously on 0800 555 111."
