Police armed with a taser arrested a man suspected of stabbing a teenage boy outside Elephant and Castle Station.

A British Transport Police officer deployed “without hesitation” to break up a group fighting near the south London station at 6.50pm on Sunday.

The force said the officer used a taser challenge to arrest the suspect on suspicion of robbery.

Police then found a 15-year-old boy suffering multiple knife injuries nearby.

The victim was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries and the suspect was arrested for attempted murder.

A BTP spokesman said on Twitter: “An officer attending a call to a South London Station came across a group fighting, officer deployed without hesitation.

“After a short foot chase and effective Taser challenge, male was arrested on suspicion of robbery. It transpired that this male had in fact stabbed a person multiple times.

“Due to this he was further arrested for attempted murder. Immediate medical care was given to the victim by trained police medics and London Ambulance Service.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “ Police were called at around 1850hrs on Sunday, 20 February, to a male stabbed near to Elephant & Castle railway station.

“Officers attended along with LAS.

“A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital – condition assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

“A male has been arrested in connection with the investigation. He has been taken into police custody.”
