Police officers will patrol buses in Edinburgh to make sure guidelines are followed.

Cope will begin travelling on public transporty "to offer support to drivers and passengers regarding the latest Scottish Government advice."

The news comes as lockdown looks set to ease this week with more people back to work and riding the buses.

The current advice is that people on public transport should wear masks, observe distancing as much as possible and use contactless payments.

In a video posted yesterday PC Mike McGill, the transport liaison officer for Lothian Buses said: "Some of our residents will need to make essential journeys in the next few weeks.

"I along with some other officers will be travelling on the buses to offer support to drivers and passengers regarding the latest Scottish Government advice."

"If you see us come and say hello and ask any questions."
