HALIFAX — Nova Scotia's independent police watchdog is investigating a Yarmouth man's allegation of inappropriate sexual touching by members of the Annapolis Royal Police Department.
The Serious Incident Response Team says police approached the man as he sat in the driver's seat of his pickup truck in Annapolis Royal around 4 p.m. on July 9.
Police were investigating a driving complaint related to the truck and, after some discussion, officers tried to arrest the man.
During the arrest, SIRT says a struggle ensued and the man alleges his pants were ripped, his genitals exposed, and he was inappropriately touched by one of the officers.
SIRT says the man made a statement to the independent agency earlier this week.
It now has three months to investigate and file a report.
