Police have issued a warning to communities across Greater Manchester with days to go before Halloween. Many families in the region are counting down the days to October 31.
Thousands will be revelling in the occasion - donning their spookiest outfits and decorating their homes in ghoulish fashion. Children will also be out and about on the evening, knocking on doors for the tradition of 'trick or treat'.
But many people across Greater Manchester do not enjoy Halloween, while it can be an intimidating time of year for vulnerable residents. So while the excitement is building ahead of the big day, Greater Manchester Police has issued a reminder to be respectful of people's wishes during Halloween.
A poster has also been made available for residents to stick in their windows to show they do not wish to be approached for 'trick or treat', which can be found here. In a post on Facebook alongside it today (October 26), a spokesperson for GMP Manchester North said: "It's nearly Halloween... While trick or treating please consider those who are vulnerable that may not want to take part in answering doors to children dressed up.
"I have attached a poster that can printed off at your own convenience to put in the windows/doors/porches of those people that don't want to take part. Please consider printing for your neighbours or elderly family members where required."
