Police warning over texting and driving after driver caught using phone 'to check flight'

A driver was caught using his phone while driving and told police he was 'checking in for a flight' - that dosn't leave until next week.

Police say they saw the driver tap his mobile phone and was also seen leaning on the steering wheel.

He was reported to the police after supposedly checking in for his flight.

In a post on Twitter, GMP Traffic wrote: "The driver of this vehicle was leaning on the steering wheel and tapping on his mobile phone as he passed #XT11.

"Turns out the driver was checking in for a flight which doesn’t depart until next week.

"Keep your eyes on the road, not on your phone! Driver reported #fatal4 "

The GMP Traffic team used a facepalm emoji to emphasise their point and illustrated the tweet with a photo of the red van in question.
