Police warning over cars being entered whilst unlocked in suburb near Clifton

Police have issued a warning following "numerous reports" of car break-ins and thefts in a city suburb. Officers say that the reports of cars being entered while still being unlocked have been coming from the Silverdale area, Silverdale a neighbourhood near Clifton.

There have also been incidents where items have been removed from the cars. The incidents are believed to be happening between 3am and 4am.

Police have urged residents to lock their cars once they have left them. They have also encouraged the incidents to be reported.

In a post on the Clifton Police Facebook page, officers wrote: "We have had numerous reports in the Silverdale area of cars being entered whilst unlocked and items being removed. Please try to remember to lock your car and remove all valuables from it.

"We are also encouraging residents from Silverdale and Clifton to report these incidents happening so we can narrow down the time scales and pick up further patrols. The incidents are believed to be happening between 03:00am-04:00am.

"If you have any CCTV of anything like this occurring please do not hesitate to contact 101 so the Beat Team are able to make contact with you about viewing and obtaining this CCTV."
