Police warning as kids seen riding bikes across frozen moat at Welsh castle

Police have issued a warning after reports of children riding their bikes on the frozen moat at Caerphilly Castle.

Caerphilly Council shared a picture of the icy waters surrounding the popular castle after snowfall across much of Wales on Saturday.

The police warning comes after a photo of three children with their bikes on the moat was widely shared on social media.

The post by one resident added that while the boys "fell in" the trio returned safely to their homes.

A Gwent Police spokesman said on Saturday: "Do you know where your children are? Gwent Police have had a number of calls this afternoon regarding children riding their bicycles on the moat of Caerphilly Castle as it is frozen over. This is very dangerous and could result in serious injury."
