Police warning ahead of scorching Bank Holiday Weekend

Police have issued a warning ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

Officers at Avon and Somerset police say they want everyone to abide by Covid rules amid the excitement of the lengthy sunny weekend.

Taking to social media, officers asked people to bear in mind a range of Covid-19 restrictions are still in place.

They've also urged people to travel safely and to call 999 if there is an emergency.

The force urged people to stay hydrated as temperatures are expected to peak at 22C.

Avon and Somerset Police said on Twitter: "We wish everyone a happy bank holiday weekend.

"Please follow these reminders to help keep everyone safe:

"Please stick to the rules of six people or two households indoors and up to 30 people outdoors and let's do everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus.

"If travelling check your vehicle is in full working order before you set off. Plan ahead, allow plenty of time and stick to speed limits. Roads are set to be busy so ensure you have lots of water to stay hydrated if delayed. If you're drinking alcohol, let someone else drive.
