Police warning after 'True Geordie' explicit Instagram messages leak online

Toon supporting YouTube personality 'True Geordie' is today at the heart of a social media storm after explicit private messages apparently posted from his Instagram account were posted online.

The Newcastle blogger, whose real name is Brian Davis, is currently trending on Twitter after screenshots claiming to be messages from the 32-year-old surfaced this afternoon.

The content of the private Instagram messages is too explicit to publish and the posts have sparked huge reaction online.

Davis, from Newcastle, is known for ranting about Newcastle United on his blogs and has more than 1.5m subscribers to his YouTube channel.

He hosts a number of podcasts about football and sport.

After the leak, Northumbria Police has urged social media users to make sure their devices are secure.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We would like to remind everyone to make sure their devices are always kept secure and that passwords are kept safe and private.

"If you think you have been a victim of cybercrime or would like more information about staying safe online can visit www.getsafeonline.org/northumbria."

Anyone who feels they have been a victim of cyber crime is urged to report it to police.
