Police warning after 'potentially harmful' drugs are stolen from van in Wollaton

Police have issued a warning after "potentially harmful" epilepsy drugs were stolen from a van in Wollaton.

A van, containing a quantity of the epilepsy drug 'gabapentin', was stolen from Derbyshire Crescent in Wollaton at around 11.30am on Tuesday, August 6.

The vehicle was discovered by police less than two miles away in Chesil Avenue, Radford, later the same day.

Officers say 168 capsules of the drug, in 300mg doses, were taken from the van.

Gabapentin, which is primarily used to treat epilepsy but can also treat nerve pain and migraine headaches, can cause serious adverse effects or death if taken in high doses.

Officers have urged anyone offered the drugs not to take them.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson added: "If you come across any medication or are offered it for sale, please do not take it and contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 291 of 6 August 2019, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
