Police warning after man stopped car and approached schoolboy in Maghull

A 12-year-old boy was forced to run away from a man who stopped his car and then approached him in the street.

The boy was standing near the junction of Hall Lane and Alscot Close in Maghull, when a man in a navy blue 5 series BMW got out of his car and approached him. The boy ran away and reported the incident.

The incident happened at around 2.35pm today. Police are now appealing for more information about the incident, which they are treating seriously.

Police still investigating death of 13-year-old who died of MDMA overdose said the driver is described as mixed race, around 30 years old, with black mid-length dreadlocks and a Liverpool accent.

Detective Inspector Catherine Walsh said to the ECHO : “The boy did exactly the right thing in running away and reporting this incident as soon as possible.

"Incidents such as this are rare but we take them extremely seriously – CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing in the local area and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, recognises the description of the man or the vehicle or has any dash-cam or CCTV footage to please contact us.
