Police warn West Lothian school pupils to stay off the M8 motorway

School pupils in West Lothian have been warned to stay away from the M8.

Officers are warning youths to stay away from the busy motorway ‘before someone gets seriously injured.’

It comes after they received a number of sightings between J4a Heartlands and junction 4 Whitburn this week.

The police say they have already traced some of the youngsters but are now planning on speaking directly to Whitburn academy pupils and staff.

Police Scotland said: “We have been particularly concerned this week after a number of calls about young people being on the M8 motorway between J4a Heartlands and Junction 4 Whitburn.

“We have traced and spoken to a number of them but are asking that you spread the message as widely as possible before someone gets seriously injured.

“Our school based officer at Whitburn Academy will be talking to pupils and staff in the coming days and between us, we can stop this dangerous activity.”
