Police warn 'we will take your car' as dispersal order in place for car meets near M1

Police have warned drivers "we will take your car" as a dispersal order was put in place near junction 27 of the M1.

The 48-hour dispersal order is in place on the motorway and surrounding areas from August 1 until August 3.

This also means police will be patrolling Tesco at Hucknall, making sure no car meets take place.

The force says any drivers caught congregating in an anti-social manner, and causing risk to the public, will be removed from the area.

A spokesperson for Ashfield Police said: "Kirkby Neighbourhood Policing Team will be up at Junction 27 and the surrounding areas, including Tescos at Hucknall, conducting patrols ensuring no car meet and greets with inappropriate driving is happening.

"There is a 48 hour dispersal order in place for drivers, passengers, and/or spectators caught congregating to drive in a manner causing ASB and causing risk to the public will be issued an order not to return.

"Failure to comply could result in prosecution and items/ belongings seized that are being used to cause the ASB.

"Yes, this does mean we will take your car!"
