Police warn public not to approach Dublin man after he escapes from UK prison

Police in the UK are warning the public not to approach a Dublin criminal if they see him after he escaped from prison earlier today.

Cops are on high alert in Devon in South West England after 24-year-old Miley Connors made a break from MP Channings Wood jail in Newton Abbot.

Connors is supposed to be serving an eight-year sentence for burglary - but fled in a vehicle with three other people at around 8.50am on Monday.

The car has since been located and police have now sent out a warning to the public not to approach Connors if they see him.

They said: "Police are seeking the public’s help to locate a 24-year-old man who is wanted after escaping from HMP Channings Wood, Newton Abbot.

"Miley Connors is reported to have fled from the prison this morning [8 April] at around 8.50am. Connors is currently serving an eight year sentence for burglary.

"Anyone who sees Connors is asked not to approach him and to call 999 immediately.

Police enquires remain ongoing to locate and arrest Connors.

"He was last seen wearing a grey sweat shirt and blue jeans or trousers. He is described as a white male, around 5ft 10ins tall and has an Irish accent.

"It’s believed that after leaving the prison, Connors fled in a vehicle which contained three other occupants. The vehicle has since been located and recovered by police.

"We would like to thank the local Public who assisted prison staff in gaining valuable details of the car quickly and those assisting Mr Connors.

"Anyone who sees Connors or knows of his whereabouts is asked not to approach him and to contact police immediately on 999 quoting log 173 of Monday 8 April."

When asked if they had been informed of the situation gardai said they do not comment on correspondences with other police forces.
